This workshop is perfect for anyone who has completed a beginners Sewing Workshop or the Introduction to Free Motion Embroidery workshop and is ready to be a little more creative with their sewing or FME, and is ready to get sewing for Christmas!
What the workshop will include:
- You will be guided through the stages and processes Michelle uses to create an Applique Decoration
- Templates will be provided and you will be shown how to use fusible web to transfer an image from a drawing
- Michelle will go more into depth on choosing the correct fabrics
- You will also be shown how to Applique using both the Satin Stitch on your sewing machine, or using free motion embroidery.
Once all of the steps are completed, you will have one or more cute little Christmas Decorations to take home, ready to decorate for the festive season ahead. Choose from a Robin, Snowman, Christmas Trees, Christmas Pudding or a Christmas Bauble
What you will need:
A basic understanding and a little experience of how to use a sewing machine works in it’s basic form and/or free motion embroidery mode.
What you will need to bring:
- Sewing machine (in good working order)
- If wanting to experiment with free motion embroidery, a darning foot (or we can provide you with one)
- Your basic sewing kit (scissors, thread, pins or clips, hand sewing needle, vanishing pen etc)
- Selection of cotton fabrics (perfect opportunity to use up all some of your unused scraps in Christmas colours)
- Backing Felt Fabric in white, brown, green or all 3 measuring around 12 x 12”

- A selection of sparkly fabric pieces if you have any, but not essential
- Fresh Regular sewing machine needle
- 8” Embroidery hoop or embroidery gloves (optional)
- Lace/Ribbon/Trims/Buttons/Beads (optional to embellish your piece)
- Reading glasses if you need them and a pen and notebook
- A sprinkling of creativity
All sewing machines and materials are provided. If you are wanting to take the opportunity to set up your own sewing machine at home. You can either bring your machine along with you or make sure you know the make and model so we can guide you.
All of our workshops are held in the workshop studio upstairs at From Loft to Loved, 11 The Square, Sedgefield TS21 2BN.
Cancellation Policy
Payment for workshops must be made in full at the time of booking. If you need to cancel your booking for any reason please contact us as soon as possible, cancellation fees apply:

Over 21 days before the workshop date - full refund given or the opportunity to book another date
- Between 7 and 21 days before the workshop date – no refund given, however you will have the opportunity to book another date

Less than 7 days before the workshop date - no refund given and no opportunity to book another date
Any refund due will be paid to the original payee only and by the original payment method.
If you do not turn up for your workshop, you will not be eligible for a refund nor will you be eligible to move your booking to an alternative date.
In the unlikely event that a workshop has to be cancelled by From Loft to Loved, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or the opportunity to book onto an alternative workshop. You will be given as much notice as possible if a workshop has to be cancelled.
